Advancing Hydrogen Solutions to Lead Hong Kong’s Energy Transition
Hydrogen, as a clean energy source, offers significant decarbonisation potential across various sectors and is playing a pivotal role in Hong Kong’s energy transition. The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (“Towngas”), an associate company of Henderson Land, leverages its town gas composition, which contains approximately 50 percent hydrogen and brings more than 160 years of experience in handling hydrogen. The company also operates a gas network that extends over 3,700 kilometres across Hong Kong. This unique positioning enables Towngas to deliver hydrogen flexibly, thereby meeting the growing demand for sustainable solutions.
In 2025, Towngas continued to make significant strides in hydrogen applications, steadily building a comprehensive clean energy ecosystem. The company is advancing its hydrogen business through hydrogen power generation and integrated new energy solutions tailored for construction sites and other uses. Notably, Towngas supported the 15th National Games golf tournament by successfully deploying Hong Kong’s first integrated hydrogen power generator to supply electricity to the Fanling venue. Equipped with an integrated power generation system and hydrogen storage cylinders, the unit utilised the extracted lowcarbon hydrogen to deliver reliable electricity on-site.
Towngas has also been actively expanding its partnership network to promote hydrogen adoption in Hong Kong. Collaborations include a joint initiative with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation to launch the city’s first public automatic hydrogen charging system for electric vehicles, and a partnership with the Construction Industry Council to install a green hydrogen power generation unit at the CIC-Zero Carbon Park in Kowloon Bay.
Towngas will continue expanding hydrogen technology applications in close collaboration with all sectors of society. By driving technological innovation and fostering cross-sector partnerships, Towngas remains firmly committed to accelerating Hong Kong’s path to carbon neutrality by 2050 and co-creating a sustainable future.

In collaboration with Hanin Group and its ESG-focused brand, ESG School HK, Hang Yick and Well Born repurposed 7,000 used uniforms into 400 special eco jackets for students at Mary Rose School in honour of its 55th anniversary. Inspired by ESG School HK’s ethos of eco-friendly school attire, incorporating innovative BioNTex™ antimicrobial coating techniques, Hang Yick and Well Born facilitated this distinctive partnership to convert old uniforms into fresh products, effectively showcasing the potential of resource renewal.

In November 2024, Henderson Land launched the We CAN! ESG Christmas initiative, an aluminium can recycling programme spanning over 200 of our properties, including flagship developments such as The Henley, One Innovale, and Square Mile. The initiative aimed to promote sustainable habits among residents and tenants while infusing the festive season with environmental awareness. The collected cans, over 10,000 in total, were creatively transformed into over 200 Christmas trees, adorned with sparkling lights, and displayed in lobbies and clubhouses at various properties. These unique decorations not only enhanced the festive atmosphere but also served as a powerful reminder of the importance of recycling and reusing materials in daily life.

New Central Harbourfront Site 3
The New Central Harbourfront Site 3 is a visionary and iconic landmark created by Henderson Land. The project is a blending of architectural forms and spaces articulated with landscape elements into a symbolic bridge that connects inner Central with Victoria Harbour. This ambitious project features over 28,000 m2 of landscaped spaces, creating a vibrant living oasis in the heart of Hong Kong. With 24-hour public access, Site 3 is set to offer a sanctuary for relaxation and recreation amidst the dynamic urban environment.
